My latest eBay find
« on: January 09, 2013, 09:00:34 AM »
I really like this pattern of hammer, and also like straight pein hammers.  It's the pattern drawn for the tools provided for army artificers in the mid-1800s.  I looked through the new listings on eBay last week and found this, and hit the buy it now button.  This is the riveting hammer shown in the smith's tools for the 1841 mountain howitzer.  It's a shop made piece, and just a doll.

That's a very nice hammer, Branson!

Interestingly, I have a cross pein right in the one pound range, maybe a little smaller, with a RR marking. Can't remember if it is PRR or NRR marked on it. I'll have to dig it out of the shed and check.

Great score there! Very nice hammer.

Thanks.  It matches my 2# and 1 1/2* straight peins, and also my 1 1/2 pound cross pein.  I'm really happy with the find.
