WNY Steam Show photos
« on: September 10, 2016, 11:14:14 AM »
At the admissions they gave me the show's 50th anniversary wooden nickel.  The guy who gave me my wrist band said if I bring it back on the 100th anniversary I will get in free.  I told him I'd give it to my daughter and she could get in free.  He said that would work, he wouldn't be there either, so who would know.
Okay so this show is very interesting, much more so than the Pageant of Steam last month.  The Pageant has tons of tractors on display, but not as many steam tractors.  The Pageant has a large area for stationary engines and construction equipment.  But for sheer variety the Alexander show wins hands down.  Besides the flea market there are displays and stuff for sale everywhere.  Tractors, cars, trucks, hot rod and gasoline collectibles.  Lots of homemade engine power wagons and carts driving around.  Plenty of places to eat also.
But the flea market was so much better than the pageant's.  Just the sheer massive number of tool sellers as well as the quality of the other merchandise - antiques, crafts, collectibles, etc.  I have never seen so many used tools in one place.  There were sellers with a few used tools and many others with only tools.  Some sold new tools and others had loads of collectibles like farm wrenches, big adjustables, and boxes and boxes of wrenches.
Below is a photo of the tools I bought.

Belting up to the saw mill.

There's two more steamers behind the ones in the photo.

1928 Chevy doodlebug tractor.

The tools - each of them $1 - Yamaha pliers, Diamond 6" pliers, SK 8" pliers - unfortunately I'll have to remove the vinyl grips - , 3 Xcelite screwdrivers like new - badly needed #1 Phillips, KD #48 metric hex key set, General #895 hex key set, a Mayhew 1/4" chisel in unopened package.  The two iron trivets are for my wife who likes sewing stuff - she's a quilter.
