P.S.&W Ideal Wrench
« on: July 01, 2012, 01:43:22 PM »

I picked this up at the flea, and then put it back. Have seen far too many rusty Coes wrenches, and this one is far from perfect...
Then i noticed something odd about it and picked it up again. It has a hex shaped ring at the head end of the handle, how odd...

Rubbing it a bit, I saw a digit stamped into the head under the rust, but nothing I could read, but i took a chance...

Turns out to be interesting, it is marked PS&W Co ? / I D E A L / Pat JAN 24 '05 / MADE IN USA
The patent turns out to be for the odd hex ring, the handle on this wrench can be disassembled, the wood is pinned with a screw, and the inner piece unscrews from the wrench's main bar....

Wrench is 8"
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

I have a ten inch monkey wrench, which fell into my lap from a person here on the board.   Virtually the same, P.S.&W.Co.  CLEVELAND, O.  U.S.A.,   This is probably the smoothest of the dozen wrenches I have.

As I recall, P.S.&W. Co. was Peck, Stow, & Wilcox Company, otherwise known as Pexto.
