« on: June 11, 2012, 10:12:27 PM »
Bought a wooden machinists box loaded to overflowing and the stuff from the shelves under it as one lot. Not sure what all I got yet. The stuff in the pictures in the  next 2 posts + a bunch of broken or missing parts of tools and parts. The squares I had

WOW. You have to say that was a good day, looks like at least one Canadian ETF wrench in there, I've been watching for those and you don't see very many around but I did find a small ETF pipe wrench a while back. Can you tell me what you mean by the Gray BSW wrenches I'm not sure what BSW means, But whatever it means that is a very nice set of box end wrenches. Good find.

Here is a link for BSW. They explain it better than I can
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Standard_Whitworth
In short they are needed for older British built stuff. Not sure what vintage they are. Some are in older Gray catalogues but none in the 1948. A few in the 1950 but not all of them.

And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

Thanks for the clarification, don't know the reason why I didn't pick up on the BSW designation. One of my cars back in the early 1960's was a 1952 Austin so I do know about Witworth thread.

Neals. In your picture number 4 it looks like there is a couple of Barcalo convex wrenches in the left hand side of the drawer.I have been trying to put together a set of these for quite a while now but I don't know what a full set consists of and I think they made some sets with just 4 and 5 wrenches in a holder making a set (seen a few for sale on EBAY). So far I have the following sizes   2 - 7/8 x25/32
           5 - 3/4 x 5/8
           3 - 11/16 x 19/32
           1 - 9/16 x 1/2
           1 -1/2 x 7/16
           1 - 7/16 x 3/8
           1 - 13/32 x 5/16
Depending on what sizes you have I would be interested in making a trade or if I have some duplicates that you don't have let me know and I'll send then over. Still planning on getting out your way one of these days but since I retired I don't travel as much as I thought we would. Jim.

Gibsontool- Marked Barcalo Both are 9/16x1/2 inch and damaged. One heavy rust and one ground down to make a thin wrench. I have a few others somewhere. Will keep an eye out for them. Not something I collect. I don't know what makes up a set.
Have some duplicate ETF somewhere also.
I look forward to meeting you when you get down this way.
