Auto Wrench???
« on: March 28, 2012, 07:39:21 PM »
I got this wrench at a sale last week. It is marked KR Wilson Buffalo NY on one side and made in USA V-131 on the other. It measures 10" long. Research on K R Wilson indicates they had a contract with Ford and others in the 20's and 30's but I could not find this wrench in any of their ads....so I am sending it to the place of infinite wisdom. Thanks

True. They made quite a lot of aftermarket specialty tools, so i'm not really surprised you can't find it in an ad, need a catalog...

Not sure, but i *think* it's a grease cup tool....
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

definitely not an oil filter tool
Fords didnt have that kind of oil filter.
KR Wilson was the only company authorized by Ford to make tools to rebuild Fords

If I didn't know any  better, I'd say from the picture that it is a jar opener.

I've always heard them called "PVC Pliers" or "Hose Pliers".
"FORGED IN THE USA" myself.  Be good to your tools!

Thanks for the help. I also got this response from a E-Bay customer during my auction.

Hi, this tool is in the 1940 catalog and is the KRW Crankpin Bearing Pliers for the Ford "60" engines to test whether the crankpin bearing inserts are properly seated. It also states the tool is not to be used with the 1939 or 1940 engines, only earlier models.
