Can someone tell me about this wrench
« on: February 02, 2012, 10:28:59 AM »
This wrench is 32 lbs. and 32" long. There is a diamond logo but can't make out the inside. Not sure if its a Williams. Sizes are 3-7/8" & 3-1/8". Also can't make out the numbers and words on the shaft. Thanks for you help.

At first blush, it looks like the W in a Diamond Williams logo.

Dunno. The location of the <> is wrong for Williams, and the rectangular cross section handle is unusual for williams. The raised polished side ends are not found in williams wrenches except the textile series, and the textile series has circular crescents, so I have doubts about it being williams...

The style could , in theory be Herbrand, but it would have to be pre Van-Chrome, as the handle cross section becomes oval with them also, but Herbrand 's early wrenches usually had their name spelled out....

Mossberg didn't make anything that looks like that that I know of...

Krauter always forged in the <K> as far as I know

Dodge <D>seems unlikely...(not cast in)

I can't see that squiggle as being 2 letters...

Running out of something in a diamond logo companies...

<B> Is an unidentified maker...

hmm

Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

Lakeside forge?  Think they had a keystone inside a dimond.

The seller of this auction states that <B> is BATCO, Boston Auto Tool Co. I don't know.

There was such a company, in 1922 at least, and they specialized in ultra thinwall sockets. The sockets did have a curved recess that more or less resembles the sellers. But I don't see any evidence of the <B> mark.....
