I can't be this lucky
« on: January 25, 2012, 12:12:05 AM »
I'm not sure, but this may qualify me for a You Suck award. A shower drain upstairs leaked water into my toolbox in the basement last year. Not much, but enough to rust a few wrenches in one of the drawers. I was cleaning up the last rusty ones a week or so ago and found that I had a nice little 8" Craftsman adjustable. I cleaned it up and put it back in the drawer. Tonight, I was looking through the AA Craftsman information. I went and got the little adjustable and found the AZ in a circle makers mark.  AA says that AZ was used by JH Wiliams in the 50's and 60's on LOCKING adjustable wrenches. Wow look what I've got! The little hex push button works just like it is supposed to. HMMM, isn't that big 15" adjustable a Craftsman? Why sure enough it is and it is an AZ with a push button lock as well. I've had both of those for at least 20 years. Makes you feel kinda stupid to know that you have used them both for over 20 years and never noticed.  :D}

Twenty years ago I darned near destroyed a Craftsman Crescent type wrench trying to free the adjusting nut before I discovered that the pin would slide and unlock it.

I'm not sure, but this may qualify me for a You Suck award.

Under normal circumstances John, you might qualify, but you've come pretty close to self-solicitation here and that is strictly verboten under the rules of "You Suck" awards...

I picked up this original version a few weeks ago:
