My latest project, hay trolley
« on: December 04, 2018, 03:49:52 PM »
For those not familiar with a hay trolley, they were installed in the peak of a barn and used to haul hay up to the peak and then roll it into the hay mow.  The older ones were used to haul up loose hay from a wagon and this is one of them.  It is a Meyers OK unloader.  The pictures are first the trolley, then the hookup to the trolley by the forks, then the last two show both sets of forks.  It is mostly locked up, but it is all there and undamaged, and over time I will get it all to work again.  The trolley is not rare, but the hooks and attaching mechanism are rare.  So far I have managed to get the center pulley out of it and get it working.

That's pretty nifty.  And I like that it's an OK trolley - most manufacturers would claim it's a VERY BEST trolley, or something.  But this one's just OK.

Nice hay trolley, there is a lot of info on line about them. There are several groups on FB and some really big collections out there. I have 2 different Porter Trolleys but I haven't figured out how or where to display them yet.
