Crosscut Saw questions
« on: March 15, 2018, 09:20:01 AM »
My Grandfather recently moved and had to give me a lot of his tools since he was losing a lot of storage space.  I got 3 crosscut saws from him that I have absolutely no use for, but I also don't have much knowledge about them.  This is my first post on the site and I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what I have.  Are they worth anything? What would be the best way to go about getting them off my hands? Is anyone here interested?  Thanks in advance for any help.

That Simonds saw looks to be new or close to it, but does it have handles?. I don't know where you live which may have an effect on what you could expect to sell them for. I live in central British Columbia Canada and around here a good 6 foot saw with handles will sell for between $50 and $125 Canadian. In this area a set of handles with the hardware can fetch as much or more as the saw itself. As you get closer to the coast the saws tend get longer to handle the big timber and the price for an 8',10' or 12' saw increase substanially. selling on ebay may not be your best bet as shipping could be fairly costly.Hope this helps a bit.

Welcome to Tool Talk!

At least one of the saws should be displayed proudly with a story about your grandfather and where and how he used it.

I agree with Papaw,  if in fact your Grandfather used them, as you get older, you may wish that you had kept at least one.
