Disston saw knife

Came home with one of these this Friday (it was a slow weekend.)  It seems that Henry and brother Charles had a side deal on household tools.

Rest assured that it is not a Civil War medical tool, but rather a big a$$ kitchen knife/saw made between 1865 and 1895.  Some e-bay sellers get a little creative with their descriptions.  ;-)

But it might not be too much of a stretch to posit that it was modeled in part after the 1832 artillery sword.

And it also might not be too much of a stretch to guess that the artillery sword was modeled after the Roman gladius.
