Rotaing Head Wrenches

Got the Du Charme rotating head wrench at the Spring Auction last Saturday. US Patent: No. 1,293,735 was issued to William S. Du Charme of Cleveland, Ohio on Feb. 11, 1919. Photo shows it and the other rotating head wrenches in my collection. Anybody know of any others?

That's a neat grouping of wrenches Bus, and congrats on getting that Du Charme last week.

As regards locating others that are similar, the "Citations" feature of Google Patents is a trick that sometimes helps:

First go to the Google Patent page for your Du Charme wrench, pat 1293735  https://www.google.com/patents/US1293735

If you scroll all the way down to the bottom of that page, you see where the patent was REFERENCED BY two other more recent patents. Click on the Feb. 19, 2002 one by Jeffrey Weaver. (Which looks like a pretty neat rotating head wrench itself.)  https://www.google.com/patents/US20030154828

Now scroll all the way down to the bottom of that page, and under PATENT CITATIONS you get a list of 13 similar wrench patents. Clicking through them, I see a couple that you already have in your collection, but there are others that might still be out there....

Thanks Plyerman, there are some wild ones there including a buggy type wrench. That one would bring some spirited bidding at a wrench auction. Also one with rotating screwdriver bits on the other end!

The bottom one in my photo is marked  PAT JULY 27, 19O4 (which is not a patent date). Correct patent is probably 781,206 issued to Arthur C. Huckelbridge of Wellington, Kansas on Jan. 31, 1905.

Bob, thanks for posting the Google patents "trick". I use GP's  quite a bit but wasn't aware of that little trick.  Will be of great help I'm sure.

Nice set of wrenches Bus. I've seen pictures of them but never one in the wild.

I'd be after the Waggoner patent pretty hard myself. That is a super cool looking wrench.
The Grover wrench is a NY wrench, so I'll have to be on the lookout for one of those too.

There are indeed Grover wrenches out there to find. (pat 1321625) I saved this photo of one from last year's Donnelly auction, just because it looked cool. No idea how much it went for.

Plyerman, now that you bring up the Grover I have one of those in a leather sleeve someplace. I also found this advertisement during my research. I think they were meant for banjo tuning or something like that. No musical instruments on my end just tools.
