Museum pieces
« on: June 29, 2015, 03:09:01 PM »
A couple of "striker wrenches" for the COOPER engine at Rough & Tumble, Kinzers, PA.  One has a bolt to keep the jaws from spreading, the other has a web that straddles the piston rod shaft. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BH-ZTPd0ubY ) shows the engine, and includes details of some of the mechanism.  The "whistle / wheeze" in the video is the intake & exhaust of the the piston type compressor that is integral to the engine -- it was a natural gas pipeline pumping station engine & compressor built in 1913.

For those who missed it, Stan delivered the 72" Coes to Rough & Tumble.

I'm a little behind on wrench knowledge - how many of the 6' Coes wrenches are there?

I believe that the one shown with Stan is the 2nd known 6 footer.

readers beware; I have been known to have been wrong.

Stan, I hope that you had a good visit there.  my wife & I were there in 1988 and everyone
tells me it has grown.

real friendly folks in that area.

I try and attend the Threshermans reunion every year in mid August, Planning on going again this year. A great meet with the most steam powered equipment in one place that I have ever seen. I think this years dates are August 11 or 12 through the 15th.

Here in the NW, we have the Great Oregon Steamup at Brooks OR.  All kinds of engines, tractors, equipment, etc.  Swap meet, a number of permanent displays, etc.  Just all kinds of fun!
