I also have alot of feelings on this subject but if I were to express them on this thread they would surely be deleted and the post would possibly end, I think it best that the post ends now. I feel that this post is waning from its original purpose and going in a direction that is judgemental and offensive. I dont think that this is the place for this type of discussion unless we are all allowed to express how or what we feel.
I will say  ( and feel it may be safe to say ) that the majority of people in this world are like sheep. Believe very little about what is televised and printed in the papers and dont hate any group of people unless you yourself have explored every avenue to decipher a truth.
What a waste it would be to spend your entire life in ignorance but if that is what you choose as I must admit in many cases I have done myself than do it right and have complete ignorance, dont jump to conclusions and again find tolerance for your fellow man because of that chosen ignorance.

I will leave this alone until Sunday night in remembrance of all victims of 911, their families and friends, and all the responders that participated in the events of that day.

I know feelings are hard to keep out of this type of discussion, but I trust the membership to honor our guidelines.

I appreciate all the stories and opinions here, folks. I guess I just needed to know that I wasn't alone in how I felt.
Caught a little 9-11 special early this morning. Didn't feel bad like I thought I would. Really impressed with what they did with the waterfall pools and the whole site - just beautiful. It won't ever be the same, but at least it's not a gaping pit anymore. Guess I should move on.

I had a meeting at my home with my landlord & roommate at 8am that morning. When the meeting ended at 9am, I turned on the TV and saw the first tower smoking. I watched the second plane hit. I believe I then sat watching for 14-16 straight hours...

Like Bonneyman, I too had visited the WTC the previous November & enjoyed the view from the top. It was surreal to think I was now watching the same iconic buildings under attack.

As some of you know, I am a Newfoundlander. I spoke to my mother later that day. She was a Salvation Army officer (since retired) and as I'm sure you all know, any trans-Atlantic flight that was in the air at the time of the attacks were forced to land in Gander & St. John's, Newfoundland. The thousands of stranded passengers who were forced to stay there for days were taken into the homes of the local people. That's what nautical people do.

Many new friendships were forged over those difficult days that survive still, with hundreds of Americans going back every year to visit their hosts. The travellers have set up numerous scholarships for the local youth.

The US ambassador was there today along with many of the former refugees and present friends commemorating the events of that day and celebrating those new friendships...

Papaw, you were extremely "gutsy" to let this post/ thread... whatever you call it, ride.   I think folks acted fairly well, considering the emotions of the event. I learned a few things from this post.  Persons were effected throughout the world, not just in the usa.  Persons came together, and are still joining together in an event that was meant to "split the world apart."  I've also learned that religions have become defined, affirmed, or isolated. I can't comment on any of that... nor would it be my job to do so..... even if I am the resident rambler!.
Emotions run high over this event.... there's no way that they could not. As I've said before--- sometimes thankful and sometimes not, ECTs wiped out my memory of that day. I'm sure if I had experienced it like the rest of the world had, I could have all sorts of things to say.  But, even for this rambler, silence is sometimes a good thing (although, you see ME still writing!!)
Papaw, it's a brave thing you did to let folks talk here. I think it worked out well
cheers, bird
