old snap-on wrench
« on: October 13, 2014, 07:31:58 PM »
I found this behind a old furnace in a basement I replaced years ago, I tossed it in a drawer when I cleaned out the truck. Finally got around to cleaning out the drawers and organizing my stuff!
How old is this? who collects them?

has the look of the wrenches from the 20's that Walden & Mossberg were making for the
automobile trade.

If you were a mechanic in a well stocked shop in the 20's  you would have had a box with a selection of those available.     If you were well paid you might have a few of your own in your personal toolkit.

I've only found one in the wild, a single ended 5/8" with the heavy knurled handle.
The only bad tool is the one that couldn't finish the job.  Ironicly it may be the best tool for the next job.

OG,

I have three similar wrenches:

1) Snap-on 5/8" x 9/16" double socket wrench,

2) Blackhawk 1316 1/2" single socket wrench with knurled offset handle, and

3) Walden 615 21/32" single socket wrench with knurled offset handle.

In 15-20 years of hunting, these are the only wrenches of this type I have seen.
