Strange.
Metal Devices shows up in the mid 1920's, Pokorney in the mid 1940's-50's.
Metal devices was at least a tool maker, but they were sold at public auction around 1927
Pokorney made mostly air compressor things...
Edit: Hmm, well, these 2 companiees have a relationship after all
United States. Board of Tax Appeals - 1945
"In 1926 a deal was made with B. W. Pokorney Company, purusant to which the
Pokorney Company changed its name to Metal Devices Corporation, took over
the assets of the C. J. Sykes Manufacturing Company, and paid for them with
stock ... "
B W Pokorney is also listed elsewhere under grey/cast metal foundries....
Sykes was also a tool maker
1922:The C. J. Sykes Mfg. Co., manufacturer of talking machine parts, automobile
accessories, dies, tools, etc., 2132 Lawrence Avenue, Chicago, has purchased
the southwest corner of Maplewood and Shubert Streets
1925:Metal Devices Co. his bought from the C. J. Sykes Mfg. Co. the
factory building at Maplewood and Schubert
(guess the new factory thing didn't last long ;P)
(The tax case says there were 2 partnerships and 3 corporations involved in the rename/aquisition/merger, another was Pratt Automatic Machine Co, I dunno who the other partnership was)
Pratt made the Automobile locks for D&M Auto Lock Co , for keeping people from stealing your 1920 Buick...
