RedVise & scottg,
After spending some time on AA and some other tool sites, I'm inclined to go along with the JP Danielson attribution.
The likely date range, however, is still up in the air. I've explored every Stillson pattern pipe wrench with a similar style wood handle regardless of brand/OEM, and it appears that this style handle was in general use during the teens & 20's give or take a decade. Does this seem like a reasonable estimate of the date range?
Update-- I went thru my early Sears Catalogs looking for similar Stillson pattern pipe wrenches with round wood handles. They appeared, under various brands, in the 1905, 1912, 1915, 1926, 1927, 1928, and 1935 catalogs. They were not included in any catalogs after 1935. I also noted, the 1926, 1927, 1928, 1929, and 1935 catalogs had Perfect Handle style monkey wrenches.
I'm updating my estimated date range based on the recent Sears Catalog findings to include the general period from about 1905 - 1935. Sound reasonable?
