Yesterday I visited my 92 year-old friend. We took a ride in his 1918 Series 57 Cadillac which he bought in a junkyard for $40. I had promised this on the old forum site, but didn't get around to posting it. My friend is still driving his own car to church and to stores.

Very cool.
Was Brip "manufactured" in 1918 too?

Anybody notice the gas pump? Does it work? I haven't seen one in prolly 30 years, and I was astonished to find it then.
For Sacramento area folks, the one i found (and bought gas from!) was at Hamm's Station, on Highway 88.

Yes, the gas pump still works. It's on my friend's property. One pumps the gasoline up from an underground tank into the glass chamber using the handle on the left to manually pump the gasoline. We filled the tank of the Cadillac using this pump yesterday.

I saw those guys on American Pickers buy one of those on one of their episodes recently.

What a hoot! In today's rushing world, spending time pumping the gas up into the chamber would annoy people, but I enjoyed the process. I'm happy to find that one of these old pumps is still on the job.
