I picked these up today, spotted the J H Williams logo. When I got a closer look at home, it turns out the the pin is a locking mechanism ( first thought was that they were damaged).
Stamped ; 8 in "Superjustable" Made in USA and ABL-8 J H Williams & Co. Forged Alloy

Hard for me to pass up any iron with the Williams mark, and the Superrench types as well. Good find

Hello, John k. Thanks!!!

Another locking adjustable that I have not seen before they look to be in nice shape also,
Nice find.

Hello, gary s . Thanks!! First time for me on these!! I will need to go through the Williams drawer, now that I know what their locking adjustable looks like!
-
I keep hoping to run across some of these locking adjustables in the wild. Really neat!
-
Next time I go to the swap meet its on my list to keep a eye 👁 out for them there always so many old and not so old tools out there you could look for 4 hours and still not see even half of them.

Lou, SEARS also sold this, or one very much like it. I had a 12 in. one I traded to my FIL probably 30 years go. Can’t remember what I got. They don’t appear to be real common, I’ve never sen another one.

Hello, Mike. Thanks!! Now I will have to keep an eye out for the Sears version!!
-
There are several different versions of the Select-o-lock, and in addition to the Williams and Sears, I believe McKaig-Hatch also made a pin lock adjustable. None of which I have found in the wild so far.

I think Utica had one too. I’m pretty sure I still have it…somewhere.
