Noel shared his story of being in East Africa  in the Peace Corps, (children of Kennedy).   Then riding a Honda motorcycle from there across the middle east into eastern Europe,  dodging a war, riots, and insurrection, to arrive back in Texas.  He shared his photography skills.  Then welcomed the old tools crowd in here.  Noel, thank you.

I was wondering if something was up. So sad to hear about this!

Noel gave me the encouragement and help to start and maintain the "Inside a ratchet" stickie. I mentioned something about the idea that I had, and he told me to go for it. If I needed any help he would be there. He was so gracious with his time. ALOT of people found that thread useful - and still do.

Plus, my wife had spent some time in Africa, and Noel - after finding out about this - exchanged some email time with her about his experiences there. Small world it is.

And it's a little smaller now that Papaw is gone.

What a gift he gave us all.
I visit TT nearly every day and have learned so much, thanks to Papaws efforts.
We will miss him.

Likewise, I check in here every morning and most evenings.  I've learned so much here from everyone.  It truly has been a blessing.  God bless Noel.  Hopefully he's enjoying heaven where all the screwdrivers have "perfect handles".

Rest in peace Papaw. We're going to miss you.  I had to leave the house at 5:30 this morning and didn't have time to post The second song I heard on the radio was "I wish Grandpas never died",which summed up my feelings at the time pretty good.

Hello everyone, I'm Noel's son Patrick. I wanted to log on to let you all know how thankful we are of your kind words, and for your friendships with my Pop over the years.

I want to assure you that this forum will continue to live on. I will be making arrangements later this week to take over Pop's web hosting and register it in my name so that everyone can continue to enjoy the forum.

Thanks again, for everything,
Patrick

Thank you Patrick for picking up the reigns. I think the site makes a nice tribute to your father and keeping it family run seems fitting.

I would like to offer my condolences - your father was very highly regarded.

I don't get on here on here too often anymore. I am sorry to hear of Noel's passing. I was a member on the old site before the crash. I once sold Noel a semi valuable wrench that I thought was a fair price. When I got Noel's check for the wrench, there was more money than I asked for. Noel later told me I was selling it to cheap. That is the stand up kind of guy he was. RIP Noel / Papaw.

wow, i came on to wish everyone a happy new year... about a month late. so, i just found out the awful news.  he was probably so happy on the days or weeks, ect. that he didn't hear from me, "how do i post a picture? if i want to respond to a post, how do i do that? papaw, how do you tell someone how to get to your ebay store?
i talked to him one time on the phone, "he said," can you just call me?" i was hopelessly ignorant when it came to computers.  he had an interest in me, part of it was, "how does a youg girl like you show up on papaws wrench site?" those were not his exact words!
anyhow, anytime i wrote him, he wrote back, and that meant a lot to me.
for better or worse, I'm pretty sure i can blame him for how many wrenches i have in the house!
cheers to you and rest in great peaceness

... he was probably so happy on the days or weeks, ect. that he didn't hear from me, ...

I can guarantee you (with 100% confidence) that wasn't true at all. My Pop loved people. He loved talking to them, he loved helping them, he loved teaching them and learning from them. It's always humbling to see how MANY people's lives he touched. Thank you for sharing your memories of him with us. :)

Your dad created something that has been a source of contentment, discovery and even joy, to untold thousands and thousands. He would surely be very happy to see that you have taken over and are committed to keeping up with it. Thanks from all of us!

thanks, dear, im sure he didnt mind helping me. i considered him a friend... some old guy that loved wrenches took an interest in some young gal that loved the same thing. he was a true friend to me, helped me out as much with personal problems as he did wrench id problems! he cheered me up several times when i found myself in a dark place. are you now moderating the sight?

I am. I won't lie when I say I'm not nearly into antique tools as my Pop was. But I know how important this site and community were to him and I will keep it up and running as long as I am able to.
