Title: springload
Post by: Berryb on December 13, 2019, 06:30:55 PM
Goin' thru my pile and found some, here's the first: At first glance I thought it was a strap wrench but it's not. inside the circle is threaded. other side of the handle reads "patent pending". Thanks

You didn't list the diameter, but it looks like a thread chaser for pipe.

inside diameter about 2 3/8. Fully compressed a touch over 2 1/8. Thread chaser makes sense. Thanks

Could be a wrench for holding a threaded thin wall tube, something like the brass drain tubes used on sinks and tube before the plastic stuff became common. Or maybe hydraulic cylinder tubes.
I don't think thread chased, because lack of any fluted or cutting edges.

Maybe a support handle for a power tool ?  Could be folded when not in use ?
