Hello my name is Bill and I found this site while doing some research on an old pair of vice-grips that I have had for about 20 years.
I matched them to pliers from this site : http://www.thegaragegazette.com/index.php?topic=18696.msg238788#msg238788. The vice grips
match to the 1947 models. The lower handle has all the markings with no markings on the stationary or movable jaws.If it had a vice-grip
decal behind the stationary jaw it is long gone. This pair also has a rivet through the center of the top jaw. Some site has suggested the rivet
was used on slightly older models but all the comparisons suggest a 1947 model. This pair is a 7" straight jaw lightly used in PERFECT working condition and excellent cosmetic finish. Any comments about these including how to put a value on them are eagerly anticipated. Thanks

The finish on the older ones is usually not shiny, is yours? Closer to a flat galvanized color. Lots of variations in those pliers, nice.

" Closer to a flat galvanized color" that's a pretty good description. I think it is nickle plated somewhat splotchy with age

Check past 'bay auctions for price. American made Vise-Grips are considered more valuable, but price varies.
