Title: Tools. Any of you tool buffs info appreciated.
Post by: DAVE94LIGHTNING on December 18, 2015, 12:23:53 PM
Got a bunch of vintage tools and finally had time to get pics of all of them. I tried to include the Pat No. and any info I could find on them. These are not tools I use, but if any of them has some real value I'll put the time into restoring them and cleaning them up. Any info on these tools such as when they were manufactured and any interesting history on the manufacturer would be appreciated. Thank you. I'll add more tools as I get time to upload.

They are all " collectible" , a few are desirable. They all seem to be in good condition.
I think you should just lube the ratchets and make sure they operate ok , and leave them as is.

Any idea on the soild heavy black open end wrench? It seems like it's forged from an old piece of machinery.

Great stuff! I really like that 1/2 of an Snap-On wrench, don't know how many times I've done that!

I don't know , are there any markings on it? Looks like an industrial wrench , or one used on rail road
work.

It just has the markings in the picture CEW and it is stamped with the size of each ends wrench opening

I believe it to be a manufactured wrench, possibly for a shop that did not want the mfg. logo.

CEW is most likely the user/owner initials, like Charles Edward Williams owns this wrench.

just a thought.

Digging the duro, what size?

It's a shame the stamped the continental American ratchet upside down.

The Duro Chrome ratchet looks to be about 6 1/8" long its Pat#4492

I have the same snap on ratchet. It came out of my grandpas box. I had to get a rebuild kit for it but it was free from snap on under warrantee. She is a great ratchet.

"The Duro Chrome ratchet looks to be about 6 1/8" long its Pat#4492"

I think you'll find that 4492 is probably the part no. rather than the patent number.
