I hope everybody can open this:

The carpenter here is trimming a beam flush using a Russian ax.  I asked about the sharpening of the ax.  The response was:
"This ax XIX century has a thin blade and sharp sharpening angle."  So I asked about the angle of sharpening -- "25 degrees?"
Answer, "Less than 25 degrees."

So my recently acquired (from eBay) Russian ax is at the tool sharpener for a 20 degree edge.  I'm betting that a Russian cooper
would have no need for a side ax.
