Title: Anybody else have one of these JOIC angled hand drills?
Post by: bonneyman on November 04, 2013, 08:07:31 PM
I've had the drill gear for about a year, and found a handle over the weekend. Nice tool that can be adjusted multiple ways for getting into tight areas.
Anyone else have a JOIC, or the corresponding Proto model 370?

First for me , neat idea.

I do; found it disassembled at a yard sale, realized the various parts I could see must fit together somehow.  A creative idea, although I think the gizmosity may exceed the usefulness.

I have a similar one, but I don't think it articulates as much as that one.

I found a picture of mine- It is a Proto Multi-Angle drill driver.

I have had a few of the Proto and a few of the Joic.  They are very similar.  I would guess that they were made by the same manufacturer, probably Joic.

Yes, they are similar. But not exact. The Proto seems to have deeper drill angle notches.
Heck, I could take some pics of the mechanisms side-by-side if anyone is interested?

If its not to much of a hassle, I would be very interested in seeing a comparison.

I have never had a chance to get my hands on one.

Thanks for the info.  I do not think I have ever had both at the same time.

Here ya go!
The handle was on the chrome Proto, and had hints of red. I wire-brushed it down to grey, and mounted it on the JOIC. Since the metal cap was missing,  Isubstituted a plastic flush plug, as I won't be storing bits in the handle. At the bottom is the Proto with a bakelite handle I grabbed a few months ago to modify and make it articulate. Never got around ti it.

Thank you very much. I enjoyed looking at those great side by side pictures.

b-man,

I have a JOIC angled drill too.  I have no idea where I put it though; let's see, would I have filed in under J for JOIC or D for drill, or A for angled, or H for hand, or U for unusual.

Who knows, it'l show up when I'm not looking for it.
