this weekends estate sale had some unusual tools, none real valuable, but all are interesting.

this little guy has no  name.

I have toyed with a very similar small level. A litle stain/urethane for the wood, metallic spray paint for the metal, a couple of brass screws out of inventory, and I have a level that makes me smile every time I see it.

And it started as a dirty old thing that was at the bottom of a toolbox purchase. I just had to see it in a different light.

Could be.  On the other hand, I've seen several in this pattern up for bid on eBay.  Cute little devil.

Very nice little tool Skip.

 Having no name is a terrible burden to go through life with.  I think that Papaws Wrench is probably capable of curing that problem.  My entry would be:               

Onn D. Bubble

Of course if you lean to the pessimistic side, he could be Off D. Bubble.

Here's a name from my old scaffold building days:  Close Enough !!

My wife will tell you I still work with those tolerances...

I think that is actually a level from a child's tool box, marketed in the 40s and 50s, possibly a Handy Andy tool kit. More than a few of those tools somehow made their way into adult tool boxes.

Boiler level.
 Every tool company who made levels, made this model. Not all exactly the same, but close enough.
Plumbing companies sometimes gave them away, but they usually marked them "Johnson Brothers Plumbing, Topeka" .............or whatever.
 This one is from after WW11 because it has antifreeze in the vial instead of alcohol.  (green, not clear)

It is cute little thing.  A real shame I didn't have that toy as a child.  I'm voting for "Imma LevÉ™l"

I named mine Bit Left.

Have to wonder tho, you have an 5 foot long boiler, and a 4 inch level.
How level do you suppose the boiler ends up ?
How often was the final level done by eyeball?
(My eyeball limit seems to have degraded these days, used to be good for 1/4 in 4 ft...sigh)
