Picked these up at the Dublin Engine Show yesterday. They are very well made, spring handle. No name but a funky design in the middle. When all the way closed the blades do not touch. Any ideas??

sugar nippers

I agree sugar nippers, used for breaking up cone sugar. Disappeared from the tables of refined western society with the advent of crystal sugar in the 1870s! They were still being offered for sale (export?) in the 1937 English Marples catalogue and I was told by a young Russian lady when I was demonstrating at a show a couple of years ago that they are still used in the (boondocks?) of Russia today!

Thanks for the replies. They were mixed in a box with a bunch of rusted junk. Glad I pulled them out.
