Title: Cochran Pipe Wrench
Post by: dowdstools on July 24, 2011, 01:15:56 PM
I normally don't pay much attention to pipe wrenches, but this one was different enough that it appealed to me.

Nice find. This company also made the Cochran Speednut wrench which are quite common but hadn't seen the pipe wrench. This 1908 patented wrench predates the speed wrench by about 8 years.

Very nice : )

Just as a comment, the 1912 patent shown the nut going the other way....
(The 1908 patent sorta hints at it, but isn't clear...)

[The way it is now, the bevel edge is supporting the jaw...]

It's funny, in as much as the company name was the Cochran pipe wrench manufacturing co, that pipe wrenches hardly ever turn up...go figure.
