Not very good photos, but the shop keeper was kind of giving me the evil eye, so I snapped them quickly.
Adriance iron seat. That big knot in the front would leave you singing soprano for a day or two if you experienced sudden deceleration for any reason.

A fairly complete set of Wright 10 Point sockets. I don't recall which drive size but would guess 1/2. That thing next to it was labled a "walnut cracker".

The Vise is a Littlestown. I had one exactly like it for years. It finally broke but I kept the hardy from it.
Not very common to see a hardy on any vise table!
Did you take the sockets?
I'd have haggled, but wouldn't have left those!

I hate to sound dumb, but what were/are 10 pt. sockets used for? What did he want for the drill? I have a few but have never seen that one before.

The drill was not priced, but judging by the near by items, I'd guess $20 or so.
AA says the 10 point design is something Wright came up with in the late 50s to fit a square or a hex bolt of the same size. I did not buy them, but I did notice that he had come down to $22 from $40 last summer. I don't know, it's tempting.
So, Scott, would the vise say Littlestown on the other side? It caught my eye because the little hardy was still there after all it's been through. Could be a replacement I guess, but it looked original to my untrained eye. I cut off the price tag in the photo, but I think he had $45 on that.

One of the sillier tool inventions of the 1950's....
Likely destroys square and hex head bolts equally well...
Still, tempting, they aren't exactly common.....
(I suspect mechanics weren't rushing out in droves to buy them)
Sadly I see very few Wright tools around here, so I never got that excited about collecting them...

I have seen several brands on this same vise. Sears and others.
If you ordered 12 dozen I am sure they'd put your name on instead!
I am pretty sure its not a replacement hardy. I can't remember ever seeing any other vise with a hardy.
So even if it is a replacement, it still has to be the same one. :)

Nice pics. On the sudden deceleration problem, since this was on a horse drawn farm implement, that would mean it went from 3mph to -0- in 10 feet or less. I am thinking the drill possibly had (made in Germany) somewhere stamped.

Good to know! I kept having this nightmare where a man in overalls is rolling around on the freshly plowed ground in agony, clutching his balls, while his unmanned tractor is riding off into the dusty sunset. Maybe that will stop now. :) Thank You!
