I've heard of the Illinois Central and the Chicago Central, but that's a new one on me. Time to research.... Thanks

Part of the Rock Island right-of-way in Lincoln, NE is a well used "rail-to-trail" bike route, and the old passenger depot is a bank branch office & a gem of 19th Century architecture. Read ( http://www.american-rails.com/chicago-rock-island-and-pacific.html ) for a good succinct history of the business.
