Post by: Fins/413 on February 03, 2013, 05:24:59 AM
I got this from HKE they though it was large transmission ring pliers. It is Indestro 625FS700. Here is a link to the HKE page. Here is a link to where I bought them.

Seems like maybe they could be used for installing large snap-rings? Y'know, insert the jaws into the snap ring opening, expand the ring and lock the pliers open, slide the ring over the shaft and into position, then unlock the pliers and let the ring go into the groove. Just an idea.

Kind of figured they were snap ring pliers I was wondering about the application too. I was hoping Rusty know what they are for he seems to have a handle on anything obscure.

Seems like they could be used for large external snap rings in general.

Dunno, nothing for the part number.

If you look at them closely, the jaw springs are themselves snap rings, which makes me think short run special application tool (could very well be for the govt)

The nasty ,cut off your fingers, latch mechanism is the same as used in old valve lifters, and dates the thing somewhat...

Consider piston ring pliers, more likely than snap rings.
