Does anyone here happen to remember a line of tools Skil sold under the 900 series? These are distinguished from the mainstream line by the use of gold decals. These pre-dated the "Classic" series of tools by nearly 30 years (although the Classic line used a more liberal touch of gold than the 900 series).
One of these is the 936 7-1/4" circular saw. It is similar to the 574.
Another is the model 949 3/8" cordless drill/screwdriver which is similar to the model 2002.
Still another is the 938 router which is similar to the 548.

I think I bought that drill right around 1976. It was just after it came out.
I lived in a little mountain cabin without electricity at the time, and could use the lighter plug in my pickup to recharge it.
The batteries which were built in, lasted fairly well but of course died totally eventually.
So I cut them out and wired in a cord.
Then I could reach anywhere,
within 12' of my truck..... heeheh
