Hey all! Ive been posting away on the whats-that-tool board.... found a bunch of oldies in the garage of my new house.... just lying around! Im a history buff as it is, and pretty handy with the tools- so this is just so very cool!
The replies to my questions are awesome and I thank you all for sharing your knowledge- as i posted in reply to one member- "you just can't get this kind of knowledge anywhere"!
Great site! Thanks so much!

A belated welcome from Florida. You'll like it here. The best people and the best site.
As was pointed out in answer to one of your posts, it would be a big help if you put a ruler next to what you are photographing, or in lieu of that give a detailed description, especially the dimensions and any marks.

Welcome from Arkansas, Dabears!
Sounds like my kind of deal on a house closing! I've cleaned out a many of rental units where the tenant(s) left tools. That never made sense to me.
A couple of things that are helpful to me in identifying tools. 1) magnifying glass for obvious reasons, 2) chalk - to try and highlight any markings 3) VERY bright light - 500w halogen bright for me. I was shocked how many markings (mostly owner initials) I began to find when tools where placed under a bright light with a magnifying glass.
My dad would say, "If it were easy everybody would be doing it".
