Title: A Couple of Estate Sale finds
Post by: johnsironsanctuary on January 06, 2013, 01:47:16 PM
I didn't do as well as Moose, but not bad for $15 each lot.

The No. 60 chisels - black and yaller plastic handles, metal striking cap for most of their lives - are dynamite carpentry chisels.  Very tough steel that will hold an edge, and the metal striking cap means you can use your nail hammer on them (though I wouldn't recommend using a waffle-face hammer), so you don't need a mallet in your toolbelt.  I rarely need to get out any of the other chisels when I'm doing carpentry.

I started carrying a #60 just like that over 40 years ago.  Its still in my old toolbelt. I have rounded up more over the years. The really narrow and really wide ones are the hard ones to get. 1/2, 3/4 and 1" are easy.

But you really killed on that first lot! yOWZA!!
The fine tooth round head C-man alone!!
yours Scott

Not bad!

That Craftsman RHFT ratchet will cause a bullfight over at the GG. People are falling all over themselves trying to get them since Sears discontinued them in 2010 and the rebuild kits have evaporated.
