Title: basin wrench
Post by: HeelSpur on January 06, 2013, 12:56:58 PM
Anybody ever take one of these apart?
On the little plate with writing there is what I thought was a screw slot, but its just the opposite, the slot sticks out. I believe this has to be removed to disassemble the tool.
Its froze up.

With a really nice logo on it :)

There is a carburator tool that fits that weird inside out slotted screw (I am assuming it is a pin, and not a casting mark ;P)

(Find a junk screwdriver, cut the end off, and hacksaw a slot in it....)

It's not a real screw but a casting of the screw used to hold the name plate on the wrench. If I remember correctly you just back the adjusting nut all the way off and then the jaws just fall out.

On the backside of that screw is a hole that looks like an end to a bolt, should of took a pic of the reverse too. Guess it needs a good soaking cause she's froze up tite.

After looking at mine there is a rivet (not a screw on mine) that holds a spring and keeps the jaws from being screwed completely out. It looks like even if you removed the rivet the jaws couldn't be removed until you get the adjustment nut unfroze.

OK, I'm all ears. I'd rather have it operable and a little damaged than froze up tite.
