Nice score, Bob. That is a wheelwright's traveler, used just the way you stated. Amazing how precise a smith could be with one to get a tight fit of the tyre to the wheel using one.
-
I got this very nice collection of "Made in USA" wrenches. They will make a great addition to my little collection. Thanks Bob (amertrac)

Got my secret santa gift today. Might have been there yesterday as I have the flu and was not out. Santa outdone himself. Its a tool, I didn't know what it was until I read what was on it, I will use it. It don't get any better than that. Many thanks to Mike from CA Will try to get pics up tomorrow.
-
Here are the pics. A handy tire removal tool. Still not sure which member its from but thanks anyway.
-
Have you found how to use it? The mechanical advantage of these is so intense that these can appear to not work. But if you crank on the upper arm and watch the male socket end on the bottom, you'll see it move ever so slightly.
-
I have the flu so have not tried it out on a wheel yet. I am thinking the little cup is adjusted to fit over the nut on a stud. Seems to be about 34 or 35 turns of the handle to get 1 turn of the socket.
if I remember my physics right 4 or 5 pounds pressure on the handle should be more than enough to do the job. Gotta try it as soon as I feel better.
-
Wow! Awesome torque multiplier..
-
Man I would have liked to of had that!

+1

Hmm, lessee...if you can put , say 40 ftlb on the handle, and it's a 35:1 ratio, you should be around 1400 ftlb
Should snap that stud right off ;P
Very nice tool :)))

Is Secret Santa on again this year Papaw?
If so I think those who are willing to go international need a little warning. Shipping overseas takes a little longer.
Anyway, I'll in it again.
