Title: My antique Wiss score

I picked up this pair of Wiss hedge clippers this morning for $2. I wonder how old they are? I was smitten by the wooden handles.

I would be smitten by those as well. Are they scales like a Perfect Handle tool, or not?

Nice looking set! Any numbers on them? I would have to guess they were made in the 1940-1950 time frame, just by the looks of them. I did find a look-a-like pair that recently sold on worthpoint, but they gave no age details.

WOW!!! wow wow!   Those are dynamite!

    I have the model after True Value got involved, and they are -not- the same. Similar but not as cool as these!
 They are a kind of perfect handle, except the frame covers one side completely and there is no second slip of wood. 
 So it looks kind of like:     
 
   --__--     in cross section.

 I found mine and was dying to get them back into shape, and re-stuff with fine wood (you know me heehehe)
  but mine had been ruined by an idiot who ground the inside of the blades (where they ride against each other) so far,
 that I would have had to grind the blades down to a needle to get them to work again.  sniff
     So they are just hanging on the wall down in the shop.

Two bucks?  That's nearly worthy of a you suck award.  Great looking shears, good manufacturer!  I'd have bought them at $5 and felt crafty.  Shoot, I'd probably bought them at $10 and felt good.

The Perfect Handle tools are new to me. I haven't payed any attention to them until I learned about them on here, but I haven't found any in person yet. Not sure what you mean by scales. They are in pretty good shape. The wood is only on the front like you see. The back is metal but they are nice and round and thick and comfortable.

Scales is the term for the material used for the handles on things like knives and Perfect Handle tools.
