Title: Stanley 5c Type 11
Post by: stanley62 on November 04, 2012, 06:31:20 PM
Well,  The Stanley Type 11 (V Logo) happens to be my addiction.  I can't pass one up, especially for $10 or less.  Here is my most recent acquisition prior to clean up.  I'll post pics when I get it cleaned up. (May be awhile!)  The wood on this one really caught my eye!

The wood is in great shape!  That handle isn't cracked or missing the top.

Should clean up nicely. Looks like a lot of jappanning is still there. How does a plane get that rusty and the wood stay in such good shape ? woods worth more than you paid. way to go.

Very nice find Jim!

It should clean up beautifully with little effort.

So....what's the rest of the story? How did you find it? Garage sale...Flea? Answer a Kijiji ad and plunder an old widder woman? Enquiring minds want to know.

Found it at the swap meet.  The seller have 5 or 6 planes that were cleaned up and he was very proud of them $$$.  This poor guy
was just throw on a table full of junk.  Lever cap was frozen.  Rust everywhere.  It should clean up very nicely.  Rust appears to just
be surfcace rust (no pitting).  I'll post the after pic's when I get time to clean it up.
