I would like to buy or trade for one of the below pictured Coes wrench. It is the first steel handle model after the wood handled "baby Coes" was discontinued. Length is about 4 5/8 inches. It may be a little hard to see in the picture but the handle is round, not oval shaped as is the norm for this wrench.
Credit to Herb Page and his great book "The Brothers Coes and their Legacy of Wrenches" for the picture and the information.

I've never seen one.

If you have Herb Page's Coes wrench book (2004), it is shown as style No. 49 on page 75. It says that the length on the first one's after the wood handled model was discontinued was 4 5/8 inches, but that it was soon changed to 5 1/4. Most examples are 5 1/4 inches.
I have one of the oval handled ones (style 57) in my Ebay queue, but I have never see a style 49.

Thanks for the correction. I wasn't paying enough attention and missed that. I have an oval handled one also. This one would complete the collection.

Looks like the oval handle is pretty common as I also have one.Looks like you might have upped the competion for style 49 .lol

I have an oval handle too. Found whilst dreaming about a wood handled Baby Coes.
(I never got a Baby, btw)
I don't think the oval ones are very scarce at all. I got mine for just a few dollars.
That little round handle one though? It has to be considerably rarer than the Baby. I never even knew it existed before now.
It was right around the time I was looking for a Baby, that I decided to start rounding up 6" monkey wrenches. I kept seeing them going for next-to-nothing. It was so good for a while there, I wouldn't even buy them unless I could get several at a time to save postage. I could afford to be picky about condition, everything!
Everybody wants a Baby and now this early round handle I'm sure, but nobody really cares about 6".
Nobody else but Coes even made a Baby, but everyone in the wrench business made 6" wrenches, and you can have them almost for free! This is my idea of fun.
Going after what everybody and their dog already wants? Is just an exercise in frustration and expense hardly anyone can afford.
Going after what nobody wants, yet?? (Be there first or don't bother).
This is fun.

Going after what nobody wants, yet? Scott, that isn't following the crowd. If I make it another 25 years I'll have a lot of those (nobody wants one yet), and will be first in line to start selling! Maybe second in line. Now I'm going to be going thru the piles for baby monkey wrenches.

I have the oval rounded all metal and seven wood handled "Baby Coes" but I am still looking for an all metal round handled one.
