I am wondering if that is actually "factory" or if it was user-modified at some point..?

That's pretty cool.
I don't see any lines from the aluminum scales being fitted....the alumium must have been cast onto the handle.

I doubt it is original, and haven't heard of one marked Ford.

If I were a gambler, I'd bet that was a Ford 'in house' mod during WWII when new tools were hard to get.
