I have another tool ID sorry. It is made by Landers Frary & Clark. It also says Aetna Works. From the research I have done Landers Frary & Clark made food knives. This looks like a tool for something. The curved part of the blade is sharpened. But then has a straight end. It measures 9-3/4" long. What is it?

Sorry? Sorry?!?!? That's one of the things people on this site live for - being the first to ID some obscure tool, specific to 1938 Henways (and then only the Light 4); watching with admiration as someone identifies it; or, all else failing, speculating wildly on the tool's use/name/origins.
I have no idea what that tool is, but it's a particularly fine example of whatever it is.

I don't know , but I'll guess its some kind of cutter for packing seal.
I'll either look smart or dumb when the answer comes up.
Most likely the latter.

LF&C didn't actually make anything I know of. They were a big hardware chain. They ordered goods from manufacturers and had their house brand name marked. LF&C Universal was one of their famous house names.
They were in the middle. Sears was often cheapest, LF&C in the middle and Hibbard Spencer and Bartlett sold to top most goods.
I have no idea what this was made for, though. Kind of look veterinary to me?

Are you waiting for somebody to ask, "What's a Henway?" Or "What's a Light 4?"
Won't be me -- I know the answers. ;-)

Well, yeah, I was hoping. There's got to be at least one person on this forum, though probably only one, who doesn't know.
One of my moments of pride from my working years was having my boss ask "What's a Henway?" in response to my pump priming during a manager's meeting.

"What's a Henway?"
If you watched enough Johnny Carson, you learned this one.

I'll bite...what is a Henway, what is a Light 4, and who in the world is Johnny Carson?
:)

Hey Bill, You're up!! You found one. Might even be another one out there.

Ok, so is what you guys are saying this tool was used on the Johnny Carson show. And you stuck it in a Toaster while it was on? Or to kill a Hen?
-
OK, here is another LAG (lame a-s guess)
Last time I couldn't figure out a totally weird looking knife, it turned out to have something to do with honey.
Beekeepers tools are unusual and you don't see them all the time.

Very good thought Scott!
We need some better pictures of the blade. Does the small, flat heel have a sharpened edge as well or is it flat. Is there any thickness to the heel? I'm having a hard time seeing it clearly.
This is a utilitarian tool, not a vanity tool...the handle is as modest as they came around 1900 +/- 20 in either direction. -If- it is the original handle.

Asparagus knife?
-
Looks very like a banana knife (too short and the wrong shape for asparagus)...
see the one on knife forums: http://www.knifeforums.com/forums/showtopic.php?tid/889403/ post 12-06-10 11:16.04 - Post#2248166
The angular back to the blade is common, but lots of other shapes exist as well
-
Thats it, we can quit monkeying around. Its a Banana Knife, thanks BillMan. Found this 1922 AD,

WooHoo!
Well done, Billman49!

You've asked the questions with a bit too much grammatical precision. The proper form is "What's a henway?" (say it out loud). To which the answer is, "Oh, about six pounds on the hoof, 3-4 pounds dressed."
And, "What's a light 4?"...well, to see in the dark, mostly.
Johnny Carson was the host of some late night TV show, a little better known than the Bedtime Nooz, but perhaps not as funny; although your opinion on this last question will be affected by your attitude toward Minnesota humor. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_Carson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_Carson) for Johnny Carson, and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Moore_%28newscaster%29 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Moore_%28newscaster%29) or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFId6ejqfrU (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFId6ejqfrU) for the Bedtime Nooz.
My apologies to any deaf members of this forum; the jokes here (well, not the last one) are based on homonyms that sound alike although they're different words.

Well it wasn't for trimming packing--bad guess
-
Billman, it looks like you found it. One each, banana knife.
