Hi peeps. I found this in my late father's garage, I have absolutely no clue what it is, I figured maybe for cutting holes in wood? or am I mistaken? Any help and naming of it would be much appreciated :)
Thanks!

It's an adjustable hole saw. Usually has two cutters.
-
We used these in the toolroom to cut holes in thin material, sheet metal and gasket material. With one cutter it has to be used in a mill or drill press. We called it a trepanning tool.

We called it a trepanning tool.
Trepanning tool? You were doing brain surgery in shop?
-
No, but when asked if it was hard work, we always said, "It's not brain surgery". hahaha (sorry)
-
I call it a Trepannig tool also. I have trepaned 6" holes in 3/8inch plate with such a tool. Heavy duty drill press, very slow speed with plenty of cutting oil and it is amazing what can be done.

The term that I learned for this type of hole cutter is a fly cutter
-
Tank cutter - used to cut holes in galvanised iron water tanks - superceded by hole saws and plastic water tanks.... Used with a brace - too vicious and dengerous in an electic drill

Clamp down the work to the drill press stoutly, and do not get your hands within the same time zone!!
I use these often. I will never love them
