Title: what is this thing?
Post by: Propwash on September 15, 2012, 07:09:19 PM
(http://I've had this for 50yrs and I have no idea what it is.  Anyone care to take a stab at it?  It's ½" drive, the outboard 'points' are adustable for width, the center point is stable.  I don't believe it's for a marine fuel cap or a urinal canister for inline 'cakes'.  Too flimsy and it also pivots/flops from side-to-side.)[/img]

You're going to have  to give us a little more to go on.

There is no image.

The broken image link also ate the text, which was apparently along the lines of:

What you just described sounds like a cutter for making new (leathers) for pumps or bicycle pumps.  Adjustable cutters, but most of those were tapered square shank for being driven by a brace drill.

It is actually an egg scale for weighing fresh eggs. Looks like it is missing the swing arm, and 5 of the 6 weights.

Hear hear!

"Looks like it is missing the swing arm, and 5 of the 6 weights."

*Looks" like the Emperors new eggscale, though it might be his new portable forge or spud wrench.  With no picture me or oldtools can find, it might be the Emperor's new girlfriend.

The picture is perfectly "clear" !   To make a clear evaluation one has to use their imagination to make a clearly obvious answer.

Looks like a white cat eating vanilla ice cream in the snow to me, Rusty.
Nice black line around a blank space...

Those are not rare, nor even expensive. If you work in an office there are plenty copies in the office supply room.
