Title: what is it? Plvmb 6509 & 6507
Post by: oldtools on August 15, 2012, 04:48:55 AM
found 2 PLVMB tools from ~1943-48, looks like offset striking tools with U shaped tips,
#6509 ~9" X 10mm ID X 15mm OD, #6507 ~8" X 5mm ID X 12mm OD. any clues?

Nice find!

Those are Ford specialty tools shown in Plomb catalog 18A (1940) on page 74.

The 6507 is a valve guide punch for models A and B.

The 6509 is a V8 valve guide punch.

It's interesting that both punches are also listed in catalog 15A (1936), but the V8 valve guide punch is part number 6521.

Here's a link to a few Plomb catalogs including 18A.

Thank you for the great info & link, I will look through my other old tools & post them.
I see a brake spring tool in the catalog that looks just like one I got with the PLVMB tools.
need to clean it up for markings.

I often see them refered to as bushing drivers
