Title: Mystery items
Post by: Neals on July 11, 2012, 05:21:14 PM
I have no idea what these are. 1 is marked 5/8 and the other ?/4. They came from my father's carpenters chest so am guessing they are wood related.

Use by saddlers, harness makers and other leather workers to make a decorative end to a strap.

Thanks guys! Now that I know what to look for I will do some more research. I'm wondering if those were my grandfathers. He passed in 1947 before I was born but family folklore has it that he made a few saddles. My father was a farmer who worked as a carpenter sometimes. He was noted for well built not fancy so I doubt he bought them.
