I bought a 1906 Sears and Roebuck from a Aussie seller recently, I knew it was a reprint although he didn't spell it out. What I didn't know was that the publisher had edited out some sections (to make the production manageable?) which included most of the tool and hardware pages!!! I only paid $5.00 + $8.00 postage so that softened my disappointment a bit. So beware you don't get the whole deal with a reprint.

But a "Rare" reproduction.
How is it that you knew it was not original? Seller confirms reprod.

The bottom says "Introduction by Cleveland Amory"
The introductions preface the reproduced catalogs, they did not appear in the originals.
The reproductions are interesting to look at, but as anglesmith noted, they are sometimes incomplete (probably unreproducable pages).
Most seem to have been made 1969-1970's era....(That I have seen anyway)
It should also be kept in mind that they are Copyrighted works, unlike the old originals.....
(Cleveland was born in 1917 btw...)
I have 2 different years, bought at the flea for $5/ea...
$60 is IMHO absurd ;P

I have one I bought for $2 at an estate sale. Third page in shows @1969 by Crown Publishers, Inc. Library of Congress Catalog Card Number: 75-99921
I haven't found anything missing, but haven't looked at every page.

I have two of the repros here somewhere in my junk. A 1908 and 1897 I think. Great to look at and find info on old tools, guns, etc. These are full size, not the little tiny ones, so easy to see details of the plates for each item listed. I could spend hours just leafing through them....I'll have to find them and start scanning some pages for everyone.
