Title: caliper rule
Post by: jimwrench on June 09, 2012, 07:32:25 PM
Anyone recognize this little rule. Absolutely no marking except owner name under caliper in groove. Don't expect too much when you bid without seeing what you are bidding and you won't be disappointed. Ring man holding this rule up 30 feet away and all I could tell was it was a caliper rule. Bid $2 and won only to find no maker and a chip that is wider than Grand Canyon (maybe not quite)

Well, the name probably wore off from being carried around in a pocket for many years, but Stanley and Lufkin made rules identical to that. I believe Chapin Stevens did, as well.

For $2  I still like it.  Like Lynn said, years of coming in and out of the pocket probably took away the maker's mark.  There still might be some deciders when you put it next to named examples.
