I just saw this listing on ebay. You guys have at it. Blackhawk 7/16 drive set in the torpedo tool box. Reserve auction.

Very nice set, very tempting.

We'll see if this one goes as high as the ones of the recent past. Out of my league without a doubt.
The listing says the odd size is to deter theft, and while I have heard about that in the case of some military contracts and odd sizes, I don't think that was the case here. I think I read that the whole angle was to replace other drive sizes with this 'new' size and you'd need fewer tools. The gamble did not pay off.

You dont happen to roughly know what past ones went for do you?

There are a few threads on Garage Journal where some of these boxes and sets have been followed. Last August, one similar to this current listing sold for $760. There was another listing for the box only, and I think it went for about $250.
It looks like someone contacted the seller and arranged a "buy it now" deal for the one you were looking at; it went for $800. Wow!

Odd. I'm about 98% sure I've seen those exact same photos before..?
