Hi there,
I do a lot of home projects, and thought that between my husband and myself we had most of the standard tools ... however, I'm stumped about how to get this Pine Factory piece of furniture apart. It's super heavy and I need to get it apart in order to move it from one room to another.
There' s a large six-sided bolt or screw that's recessed. The bolt is about a half inch or so in diameter. Can anyone advise me what tool to use? Please see the pics.

A socket on an extension (or a deep socket) will solve your problem.

When I read the note I was thinking, actually recessed, when the bolt is let into a hex shaped hole that completely fits a bolt head.
But.......
Looks like plenty of clearance for a thinwall deep socket to me. Any auto parts or good hardware will have one to go on your ratchet, since it sounds like you do have basic tools.
Of course, us old tool nuts will prefer an older vintage ratchet and socket.
Feels good, looks good, works good, whats not to love?
Modern tools have little to no soul. You don't even need to look, you feel it right in your hand.
One feels like a reliable soft old friend anxious to help, and the other a jaggety nervous stranger.

Thank you so much for your quick replies. When you mentioned a socket, I remembered that my hubby had a set of those in the garage. Once I figured out the right size and how to set it to turn the screw counterclockwise, I had that bed apart in 10 minutes!
