Title: Large Hand Pliers, press, joiner???
Post by: Flatintoone on March 26, 2012, 12:18:59 AM
First post that's not a "Howdy There." Have no idea where else to begin with this. Found it at an estate sale and couldn't resist, even though I don't know what it is. Only identifying marks appear to be the "APEX" on it.

Thanks in advance,

Saw set? I had to have one IDed for me here before..... I'm thinking the screw out to the side would adjust what angle the teeth would be bent to?

Appears to be a Morrill sawset of a later design. The trademark Apex was first used starting around 1910 - 1912. Read more here- http://members.acmenet.net/~con12a/ (http://members.acmenet.net/~con12a/)

Used to set the teeth of a saw blade so they will have the correct kerf.
