Hi
I know what this is, it's a brush axe - currently on sale on ebay - name is indecipoherable, but is probably Perkins - from Hugo in Oklahoma
Does anyone have any more information on this company or its products??
Could one of you with knowledge of the USA patent system track down the patent for me please??
I have never seen one of this shape or size before....

Closest I can find is Patent No 1030429 to John T Reeves of Grant (OK) dated 25 June 1912:

Hi, thanks for that - in the UK we use a grubbing mattock - two edged blades at right angles to each other (like an axe and an adze) - stops blunting the edge of the brush axe on soil and stones...
To return to the Perkins - it probably isn't Perkins - I took the name from the eBay seller's description. Since I have been in touch with the Frisco Depot Museun in Hugo....
Grant (OK) where Reeves lived in 1912 is only 10 miles from Hugo (OK), in 1920 (but not in 1911 or 1930) he was shown in the local directory as living in Hugo. No listing for an edge tool maker, nor any advert in the directories, but reasonable to assume he either owned a works, or had an interest in one from about 1910 to late 1920's...
Name is possibly REEVES & KING (It is very difficult to decipher) BRUSH AXE CO - the rest of stamp reads HUGO OK and PAT JUN 25 1912
Can anyone confirm this??

Stray oddity, Reeves also has a wrench patent, 1,095,519, assigned to Burgoyne Bros, of Hugo,OK.....
